Everyone has their own individual identity. It isn’t just what you look like or how you see yourself – it’s also based on our cultural background, emotions, memories and personal experiences. This piece explores how your own background shapes and informs your approach to portraiture and representation. Bringing together practical and theoretical aspects of portrait photography, it will consider some of its core elements – visual codes, conventions, key practitioners, and aesthetic approaches. Considering the digital age as its modern landscape, i've explored the implications of sharing and consuming portrait photography across new platforms and formats as well as what that means in the context of sustainability and globalisation.
